Welcome to an exclusive community engagement event brought to you by the Baylor College of Medicine’s Intellectual Development and Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC) in collaboration with the WABC Children’s Ministry and FACT Team. Together, we’re excited to present a unique listening and resource session designed specifically for parents of children, youth, or young adults with special needs. Organized by the IDDRC’s Community Engagement and Outreach team, this event aims to gather valuable insights from families to enhance educational outreach activities and research studies focused on children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, such as autism. Historically, families of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities have not always had the opportunity to share their perspectives on educational outreach activities and research studies. By intentionally engaging with families, we aim to better understand their viewpoints, which can significantly influence the development of more family-centered, practical, and reliable educational programming and research initiatives. We invite you to join us for a 1.5 to 2-hour interactive group discussion hosted at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church on Saturday, April 6th. Registration will begin at 10 am. During the session, our experienced study team will facilitate engaging conversations around your experiences and opinions regarding education, community events, and research tailored to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, such as autism, and their families. Your input will play a crucial role in shaping the future of programming and research endeavors in this field. Don’t miss this opportunity to make your voice heard and contribute to creating a more supportive and inclusive environment for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Reserve your spot today and be a part of this impactful discussion that will pave the way for better outcomes in our community.
