The Acolyte Ministry is comprised of children that light candles in the Cathedral at the start of the 8:00am and 11:30am services. The role of acolyte is an important part of the service since the flame of the candles represents the Trinity (God the Father, Jesus Christ his Son, and the Holy Spirit). To sign up your child or to volunteer, contact acolyte@wheelerbc.org.

Boys Rites of Passage is a Christian-based program that helps bring young, African-American males to manhood and teaches them to be leaders in their families and community. The program seeks to assist boys in acquiring the ability to demonstrate the three principles of the program—Discipline, Reverence, and Respect—and to understand the Seven Levels of Manhood: Heritage, Etiquette, Family, Faith, Basic Skills, Survival, and Resource Control. Boys Rites of Passage meets on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 8:30 am.As technology has advanced, and with new challenges brought on by: natural disasters, pandemics and social instability living present in our modern times, planning and programming is underway to enhance the program and make some of its classroom and community activities available via the internet.
